How To Install The Angle Adapter Bar
The Angle Adapter Bar mounts in the very top of the fireplace opening with the magnetic side facing into the room. The Angle Adapter Bar is held in place by three pressure points: the right side L-bracket, the left side L-bracket and the back of the bar against the top of the fireplace. Contact between the angle of the bar with the top of your fireplace is very important! The bar must be inserted into the very top edge of the opening–against the lentil bar that holds up the top bricks–to provide this pressure. The bar must be inserted against the top of the fireplace first and then the set thumb screw tightened. The right angle of the bar, when properly installed, will not allow the bar to “pivot”. Push upwards against the top and towards the stationary side of the bar, while tightening the thumbscrew. The magnetic front of the Angle Adapter Bar will sit about 1″ above the fireplace top opening so the cover will extend above the top of the fireplace for the best insulation.
The end angle brackets are adjustable for different depth fireplace fronts and surface irregularities. The brackets may be adjusted by loosening the screws holding the end brackets to the angle bar. Be sure to loosen the screws enough to release the frictions strips and allow the bracket to pivot without tearing the friction strips.
