Gas Burning Fireplace
There are two types of gas burning fireplaces, vented and unvented. A vented gas burning fireplace is like having a window in your home open 24 hours a day 365 days a year. Safety guidelines for vented gas burning fireplaces state that the damper in the chimney must be removed or blocked in the open position (unable to be closed) at all times. You can not stop the air flow with the damper, if it is even there anymore. This is to insure that any toxic gas fumes and carbon monoxide have a way to exit the home. Some state now require a carbon monoxide detector in all homes with a gas burning fireplace. The Fireplace Fashion Cover will help keep those toxic gas fumes and carbon monoxide in the fireplace, not in your home.
A gas burning fireplace also has an outside channel, called the chase, that runs the entire height of your chimney (see illustration below). This channel serves as a barrier between the hot firebox and hot chimney and your flammable walls. The channel vents directly to the outside, allowing the heat of the firebox walls to be exhausted to the outside, and allowing cool air into the channel to cool the firebox and chimney. This outside air is what you feel coming out of the fireplace vents when it is not in use. Your expensive heated and cooled air is exhausted to the outside in this air exchange!
Does The Metal Of Your Fireplace Feel Cold To The Touch In Winter?
Another source of air infiltration from both vented and unvented fireplaces is the gas line coming in from outside. This line comes through your outside wall to deliver the gas to your fireplace. The outside air will enter with the gas line as it passes through the wall. The Fireplace Fashion Cover will isolate your home from the inside of your fireplace and and chimney and the outside air temperature difference, hot or cold.
The Fireplace Fashion Cover is ideal for all types of gas burning fireplaces, and they LOOK GREAT!!

How Fireplace Fashion Covers Work To Save You Energy And Money
Our Covers Are Constructed By Layering 3 Different Materials,
To Obtain The Best Insulation And Isolation, To Prevent Heat Loss Or Air Infiltration
- The backing layer is made of a very tightly woven commercial heat resistant, heat reflecting material.
- The center layer is made of a heavy duty insulating, heat reflecting material.
- The outward layer is made from a variety of fabrics to suit most any decor or style, or send us your fabric.
- Industrial strength magnets are installed in the top, bottom and both sides, so the Fireplace Fashion Cover will adhere to your existing doors or screens.
This Combination Provides A Substantial Barrier Between Your Warm Home And The Cold Outside Air!!
Our covers are held in place by strong industrial strength magnets, placed at the top of the cover and divided into three or four sections. This will allow for easy folding and storage when the fireplace is in use (we slide ours under an easy chair). There are also three or four magnets along the bottom to add weight to the cover, and will adhere to the bottom of your fireplace door or screen.
All Fireplace Fashion Covers will also have the same magnets on both sides of cover for maximum insulation and coverage.
Fireplace Fashion Covers made for use with the angle adapter bar will have an open hem at the bottom as well as the three sections of magnets. The open bottom hem will allow a 1/8 inch metal rod or wooden dowel to be inserted, if desired, for extra draft protection.
Other Benefits Obtained From Our Fireplace Fashion Covers:
- Helps keep fireplace odors and ashes where they belong, in the firebox not in your home.
